Pride and professionalism are two words that Michael Gaunt has lived and worked by during a medical career approaching its 25th year. Michael strives to provide the highest clinical standards combined with a friendly and relaxed environment.
Mr Michael Gaunt is a nationally recognised vascular surgeon with 25 years clinical experience including 12 years as a consultant surgeon at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge and in private practice at hospital in Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds and, more recently, Norwich.
Mr Gaunt specialises in the minimally invasive treatment of varicose veins and is one of the most experienced surgeons in the UK. He has performed over 4,000 of these procedures including endovenous laser ablation(EVLA), VNUS Closure and ClariVein. He also performs ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy, microsclerotherapy and VeinWave techniques enabling the minimally invasive treatment of veins from the very largest to the very smallest.
In an area of medicine where too many claim to be the best Michael allows his clinical and academic record to speak for itself. Michael’s practice aims to combine the highest surgical and academic standards with a kind and relaxed environment to achieve the best clinical and cosmetic results possible.
Mr Gaunt performs more than 500 operations a year in the independent sector at private hospitals including the Spire Lea Cambridge, the Cambridge Nuffield, Bury St Edmunds BMI and the Spire Norwich Hospital.
During a distinguished clinical and academic career Michael has won national and international awards, authored several surgical textbooks and published many scientific papers.
Away from work, he is married with two children and enjoys running, keeping fit generally, watching football, reading and music.
