Pride and professionalism are two words that Michael Gaunt has lived and worked by during a medical career that is approaching its 25th year.

Michael is a nationally recognised consultant vascular surgeon who combines a successful private practice and a busy NHS practice giving him a huge experience of dealing with the full range of arterial and venous conditions. Michael has performed over 3,000 endovenous laser operations for the treatment of varicose veins making him one of the most experienced surgeons in the UK. This includes the latest radial fibre EVLA technique enabling almost painless treatment of varicose veins.

In an area of medicine where too many claim to be the best, Michael allows his experience and expertise to speak for him.

He performs more than 500 operations a year both privately and within the nhs. Privately he treats patients at the Spire Lea Hospital Cambridge, the Cambridge Nuffield Hospital, and the Bury St Edmunds BMI Hospital, Patients from the Norfolk and the Norwich area can now have consultations and treatments by Mr Gaunt at the Spire Norwich Hospital. In the NHS he works primarily at the world famous Addenbrooke’s Hospital as well as providing vascular expertise to West Suffolk Hospital Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket Hospital.

During a distinguished and far-reaching career, Michael has won numerous awards and published many scientific papers.

Having seen much of his work supported by various National Charities, he also currently heads an active research laboratory at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.

Away from work, he is married with two children and enjoys running, keeping fit generally, watching football, reading and music.
